The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a non-profit public service of the San Joaquin County Bar Association’s serving the legal needs of those in San Joaquin County. We will set up an appointment for you with a pre-screened qualified attorney in San Joaquin County who is experienced in the area(s) of the law in which you need help.

Why Choose the Lawyer Referral Service?
Certified by the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California (State Bar Certification #0012), and operated by the San Joaquin County Bar Association, the LRS refers hundreds of clients to qualified attorneys every year. Our intake coordinators are trained to evaluate your situation and find the right lawyer for your specific needs. LRS attorneys are screened regularly for their experience, knowledge and ethics.
How it Works
When you contact us, be prepared to have the following information available:
- Provide a brief description of the type of legal problem you are having
- If there was an incident, what month, day and time did it occur?
- Names of everyone who was involved
- Was there any type of personal injury?
- Dates of doctor appointments (if applicable)
Once an attorney has been found who is interested and available to discuss your case with you, we will call you back, usually within 1-2 business days, and provide you with the attorney’s information, date and time of your appointment. Same day appointments are typically not available.

The Lawyer Referral Service is a non-profit, public service of the San Joaquin County Bar Association. We help clients throughout San Joaquin County, as well as those living elsewhere who have a legal matter that requires the assistance of an attorney located in any of the following cities in San Joaquin County:

- Ripon
- Stockton
- Tracy
We are certified by both the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association as a referral service. We make sure that you are properly matched with the right attorney.
What it Costs
The fee is waived for bankruptcy, personal injury, workers’ compensation, sexual harassment, medical malpractice, wrongful termination, and most social security cases. For all other areas of law, there is a non-refundable $30 fee and you will receive up to a half hour consultation with an experienced and pre-screened attorney.
